Daylight Savings Time Change |
Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) start and end dates will change. DST dates will start three weeks earlier, at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March. DST will end one week later, at 2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November.
This date change may impact time-sensitive applications other than calendaring, such as those that process sales orders or keep track of time cards. Some e-mail servers, such as Microsoft Exchange and its clients, Outlook and Eudora, are affected as well. To make matters worse, if the time on your computers with Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Window 98 aren’t within minutes of your Servers, your network will not function properly and you may lose the ability to access data.
You will need to update any software that uses time-sensitive information in order to accomodate these changes. We have detailed Microsoft's Suggestions below.
If you would like to ensure that your computers are up to date and avoid potential problems or costly downtime, please call Escape Key Computing at 612-920-1000 to schedule a time for us to take care these critical updates.
Here are Microsoft’s recommendations:
IMPORTANT: Before applying the updates described in this article, or any Windows Updates, be sure that you are aware of the implication related to them. If you question the effects of any update, patch or hot fix, consult with an I.T. professional prior to installation. |
